And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18
As a wife, you were created to be a suitable helper for your husband. The best way you can help your husband is to pray for him. When praying, remember this:
1. Pray God's Word. Remember that it's the word of God that has the power and God honors and respond to His word.
Isaiah 55:11 "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out
from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
2. Do not try to impose your will on God. It is okay to make your desires known to God; however, you must remain open for God’s will to be done. Remember that God's word is His will, so if you do #1 you will be okay. I John 5:14-15, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him."
3. Be willing to listen. Prayer is a two-way communication. It's not just about us talking to God, but hearing God when He
talks to us. God talks to us in various ways, and one way is through his written word . That's why it is important that while you are praying, you take some time to read, study, and meditate on God's word. When on the W.I.F.E prayer journey,
I encourage you to take some time to just listen for the voice of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
4. Pray in Jesus' name. In John 15:16 Jesus tells the disciples, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you." There is power in the name of Jesus, and to receive an answer to our prayer, we must pray in His name. Pastor James Galliard says that not praying in Jesus' name is like writing a letter and not putting a stamp on it.
